Family Camp Fun!

There are some parts of my job at Young Life that I absolutely love and our annual Family Camp weekend at SharpTop Cove in Jasper, GA is one of them! It's one of the prettiest Young Life properties in the country and we're so blessed that it's only an easy 1 1/2 hour drive from Chattanooga! This is the 6th year we've had one and there are so many wonderful things that come out of a weekend like this where people from infants to grandparents are together in a beautiful part of God's creation hearing the gospel and seeing Christ's love demonstrated in a variety of ways. (Do you see the kid flying through the air after being blobbed by another kid?!)

Laughing together as a family is also worship our speaker/my boss, David Haskins, says and there was much laughter at the Carnival where kids could push a plateful of whipped cream in their dad's face, soak them in a dunk tank, shoot baskets, arm wrestle, eat popcorn and snow cones! And the whole time this was going on there's fun music in the background and a running commentary by the "Redneck Ninjas." (For those of you who know Pat Rolleston, he's the one getting pied by his daughter Percy:-)

Humor is a big part of Young Life and my friend Autumn was the character "Tricky" for the weekend. She talked with a serious lisp and was so sweet and silly. The kids loved her and she was busy signing autographs by the end of the weekend:-)

Babs headed up the work crew which consisted of a few YL leaders and alot of high school kids who came for the weekend and served. Jonathan and Bryan are also on staff in Chatt. and they were the Redneck Ninjas. How blessed I am to know these amazing young people and have the chance to interact with them on a daily basis.

Just got back from a big walk with Mr. Dale to try and walk off the effects of the amazing food at SharpTop like this giant, warm, chocolate chip cookie! So yum!

It's sooo fun to look across the spreading lawn of SharpTop and see kids of all ages playing with their parents and grandparents. After the first part of Club which consists of secular and praise songs, silly skits and games, the adults stay and listen to a talk and the kids go out for Kids Club and the babies are being loved on in the nursery. We got to stay in the adult guest lodge, Timber Ridge, which is like a 4 star resort hotel so we were spoiled!

Wonderful weekend all the way around! So grateful to be a part of this ministry!
